just got a pal 101e, and not sure about the menu settings for the dv, could someone enlighten me as to the settings for recording dv pal. please

Hi John,
Assuming you want DV PAL, Go to the "video format" menu, set "frame rate" to 50/25, then set "Rec" to either DV-25P for progressive or DV-50i for interlace

is there any other settings i should change

i cannot scroll up and down in the :

file
full auto off
gain
shutter
etc......... menu.

how do i do this please.

Hi John,
I don't know why you cannot access this menu - I have not had that problem. As to shooting progressive or interlace on wedding videos, that would be a personal choice - I shoot everything progressive, but not everyone likes the look of progressive, so do a few tests and see which one you prefer,

I have just changed from the XL1s to the 101e, bit of a learning curve, the xl1s was, (only) interlace right

The XL1s had "FRAME" mode that was similar to progressive but lost a little resolution in achieving it and so wasn't as good.

I just shot a project using an HD101 and XL1 as backup. The difference in quality is night and day! The JVC is a great camera but has a bit of a learning curve in order to get the best out of it. I'd use the info on this board together with your own tests in order to find the best settings for your tastes. Allow a day or two of toying and trail and error until you get it spot on.

was looking for the settings..ie frame rate etc to be similar to the xl1s when i was shooting it in dv.
