Arghhh 24f vs 24p
I think FCP just announced 24f support.
I hope I'm mistaken, sounds goofy. They do not support 24p at this time but this 24f thing they do? It's early, must have missed something. |
I imagine, in this case, it probably means the same thing. Please, correct me if I'm wrong.

No I'm pretty sure 24f is the canon XLH1 pseudo progressive format.

Yes, I know that, but find it hard to believe they would only implement Canon support. |
Apple is demonstrating both 720p24 and 1080 24F support in a couple places on the floor.
The version they're running is "5.1+ Universal, NAB Technology Demo", I think was the wording. There is no upgrade announced quite yet, but the official word both are coming in "an imminent realease". I also heard it would be a free upgrade, not rolled up into a version 6 release. Man, all those FCP6 rumors were wrong, wrong, wrong. Don't sweat. At least Apple decided they'd better not keep us hanging any longer. |
At the JVC booth on Monday... the apple guy said that they didn't even have a beta yet... unless I heard wrong... would be nice if I did...

Any news on Avid Xpress Pro taking 720/24 or 720/25?

Then the MPEG-2 decoder used to play the Timeline will be enhanced to handle the 24p (25p?) plus 50p and 60p. It will also handle 24F. This is a big issue since it means going into the FCP code not just the capture code. Hence the delay. It also suggests a 5.2 or 5.5 release sometime in late spring or early summer. Likely about the same time as Avid's 5.5 release (June). Avid will not have 24p support in 5.5. |
