Lumiere HD or HDVxDV

I have done searches and it seems up until the newest version of Lumiere HD, HDVxDV has won the debate, but which is better at this point?

Since I am getting the HD100 soon, I want to be preparred. Which workflow currently is easier.

Also, what software is best for HDV 480/60P and 576/50P?

I, too, am hoping to order the camera soon. (Footage to be shared all around of course).

Someone showed me this Apple page where you can get DVHSCap:
http://developer.apple.com/hardwaredrivers/download/
It's the second link down (Firewire SDK).

It will import the mt2 clips which you can transcode using MPEG Sreamclip (a very nice utility). If you're on a Mac, I think this is the best route to go since they are both free programs and both get the job done until Final Cut releases their proclaimed updated. I'm HOPING this will happen within a few weeks, but who knows.

I have no idea what the PC world can do to ingest the footage.

Apple had a demo version of an update to FCP 5.1 at NAB06 that fully supports 720P24 natively.

It is unfortunate for the developers LumiereHD and HDVxDV, but good news for us. Once this update is released you won't need either piece of software to work with 720P24 footage in FCP. Of course, Apple wouldn't say 'when' they would be releasing the update, but that it would probably be a free download.

I work with LumiereHD on a powerbook and i like this workflow but it's a little slow. I don't know (actually) about a free money option to capture 24p and to have a final cut movie with the native quality. LumiereHD records back to the cam too.
