O.k.
From a price point I like the JVC, I get progressive scan, and easy to control man functions. My concern is underwater... Is there a auto gain function? I know if I set the fstop to about 5 then much will be in focus, and I can estimate how much gain I will need at 10ft, but then the light will change as I go deeper or shallower.

Split from a discussion in the General HD forum... moved here because it's specific to the HD100.

You could put the camera in automatic mode and then adjust the AE level in a range from +3 through -3 via the user buttons.
