traveling with the HD100U

will airport xray machines damage my camera if i was to travel on air with it?

Marc Colemont August 4th, 2006 01:30 AM

No problem. But always carry the tapes with you.

K. Forman August 4th, 2006 05:56 AM

It's not the x rays you gotta watch out for, it's the luggae handlers that will kill it.

Never if possable allow anyone to handle it, and always bring the camera and the tapes on the plane with you.

The xrays will probably create some dead pixels, so remember to check when you arrive at your destination. The only time I ever have pixels die is when the camera travels by plane.

Mine has traveled several times as checked luggage in its JVC CB-100 case. No dead pixels so far. It even sat in a locked car trunk one day in 90+ temps. I'm really impressed with the CB-100's thermal insulation, never got over 80 inside the case, despite the high temp in the boot.

Does the JVC case have a waterproof seal? like a Pelican case?

What are the outside dimensions of the JVC case? (I can't find them)

What all will fit inside the JVC case in addition to the camera and stock lens?

Is the JVC logo removable to make the case less identifiable?

Thanks!

the cb-100 is made by thermodyne, and it's basically the same as what you would find a sony or ikegami pro cam traveling in. it's a little nicer as it has wheels and a pull handle. the logo is molded into the case, so no getting rid of that. there are several compartments, one for the cam, tripod plate, battery, charger, and a few other things. I have the cam, plate, dionic 90, titan 70, rain cover, and a senn g2 kit and some cables all stashed away in it. not sure about dimensions, its out on a rental this week...
