BR-HD50 Upgrade Instructions, please!
I am having problems capturing from the deck into Avid (I know everybody is) and my firmware is still the original 1.02 - hence, I need the upgrade. Can Ken Freed or someone from JVC please post the procedure for upgrading and a direction for the necessary file to download? ASAP.
Thanks. |
We had some problem with our HD-50 as well and then I was told that we can't do the upgrade, so you have to send it to a tecnical support and they will do it.

Please contact your regional JVC service center or sales engineer for assistance. The upgrade needs to be done by JVC personnel. Your reseller should be able to get you the contact info, as I do not have contact info for Canada. Regards, Carl |
Thanks Carl.

I don't know if I'm some special case or I just sent my several BR-HD50's in or RMA'd them too many times, ...
And I'll probably not get any more special treatment for revealing this... I was sent the SD memory card with firmware & simple instructions. I took the small cover off the SD card slot on the back. I inserted the card and followed the directions. I drank some coffee and read my email. My BR-HD50 rebooted into 1.05 in about 1 minute. I send the card back. (should have kept a copy of the firmware...doh!) Why the average tech savvy user can't do it themselves vs sending a deck off via Fedex for days is beyond me. Dave Beaty |
Probably because if you mess it up - or lose power part of the way through, the deck is toast. The risk is probably low for a savvy pro, but JVC is probably just being careful.

With some prior communication and coordination, arrangements can usually be made to turn around an upgrade very quickly. Carl |
