New music video with hd100

New zero budget rap video with the HD100, handheld shots and a $19 mini-tripod + one reflector. One man crew (directing, camera and editing)

HD100 + 2 A/B, 720 24p, stock lense with wide converter.
Paulo Ciccone's TC3
Edited, color corrected and added effects in Avid Liquid 7.1

Location: Atlanta, GA, USA

Shot in 100+F. Camera shut down after 10 minutes of shooting unless I shaded it. The dog in the vid snatched my cup of water a couple of times, so I almost shut down too. You know we're not used to that kind of weather here in Scandinavia.

Let me know what you think.

It's good. i didn't like the angle choices in the grass area with the cars is a little ackward, it's probably because I don't feel the theme from that location.

Extreme vignetting - which converter were you using?

Thanks for the comments, Matt. I vignetted in post. The converter used is a Fujinon WCV-82SC.

for a near zero budget and a one man crew, that's damn good. i have the same camera with fcp 5.1.2 and haven't done a thing with it. i'm still waiting on that great project to come along instead of going out and shooting. but keep up the good work. your imagination and that camera is going to make you rich and famous one day.

Good but...

I like it, for being a low budget video it looks quite nice. I'd like to see some dolly/jib moves to spice it up a bit, but low budget is low budget. One thing I noticed was a reflection of what seemed to be the DP in the glasses of the rapper in the field. I'd try to avoid wearing a bright white shirt if shooting a reflective surface. All together though, it's great for a simple guerilla shoot. Keep up the good work... I look forward to seeing more from you!

Thank you Maurice!

Nick: I agree with you fully, I would love to use dolly/jib, specially with the cars on the field and by the skyline, would have looked nice with some more movement.

That might have been me in the reflection, but I think it was the reflector-guy. It happened a couple of times. I was trying to change the angle to avoid it, but it those were the best takes I had, so I decided to go those takes. I thought of roto-scoping the glasses in After Effects, but didn't feel it was making that big of a difference, or that it was worth the time. Time is money, thus no time because I had no money:) Watching a lot of rap videos, in most of the studio videos, the artists have reflection of the big kinoflos or softboxes, I think it sometimes adds a little boost to the glasses, just like the naked eye with the eye-light. Depends on the sorroundings though...

I keep telling guys no white tees, but you know white tees are cool within that genre, so there's always someone bringing something white/bright.

I travelled from Norway to the US (for a two week vacation and 3 days production of 2 videos) with a reflector and camera, purchased a tiny tripod and then went home to edit, after a relaxing week vacation at Daytona Beach... More to come though Nick, I have a new shoot here in Norway November 12th with a budget for dolly, lighting and a little crew in a studio, followed by 2 new low budget productions. Trying to do some more in the US too, already talking to a couple artists. So hopefully I'll post them here when time comes:)
