Audio Technica 4073A and 3031 for HD100
I'm about to buy these two microphones and I've read some threads about impendace and ohms in microphones but haven't been able to find a way to see if these two microphones go well with the HD100... Any help would be appreciated. And if they are incompatible is there a way to solve this issue ?
Not sure if this I'm supposed to post this in the HD100 section ? I won't be offended if you move this post into audio section. |

Regarding imedance and ohms and these mics, they are fine.
The 4073a is an excellent mic that many use professionally, especially on a boom outdoors, in which cases it is basically outstanding. How are you going to use the mics? On a boom? On the camera? The 4073a is hot as is characteristic of a lot of AT mics. That means that on some cameras, when the audio is set on auto (the limiter is used) the mic is too hot and an attenuator is needed in the line (and AT makes a couple of them that work well). I don't know if this is necessary on the HD100 since I use a mixer now. I don't know what you will use the 3031 for, though it should give you good results. It is often used with instruments. The 4051 and 4053 are very nice for using overhead for interviews indoors (where the 4073a might be a little echoey in some situations.) |
Im going to use the 4073a on a boom with a shock mount for overhead outdoors dialog and some sound effects. The 3031 was so cheap i decided to try to use it indoors since the shotguns are usually not good for that. thank you for your replies.

the 4073 is highly regarded in terms of bang for your buck. You'll love it. Don't knnw the other one...
a lot of people use the AT in conjunction with the little 160 dollar octava hyper as 1-2 indoor/outdoor punch... |
