SUPER-ENCODER for the HD100
I would like to know if it will be possible to upgrade the HD100's firmware with the new superencoder.
If it is technicaly possible i wouldn't mind paying a logical amount of money to JVC for the upgrade. Although i love the HD100 and have shot some fantastic stuff with it, i always considered the motion trails that the encoder generates some times as an encoder bug and as something that shouldn't be there. What do you guys think? Would you pay for the superencoder in your HD100? |

I think Mr JVC would rather you spend the money on a brand new HD200/250 though. Andrew |

This would be great..
We could only hope it was possible and JVC was willing. I'm assuming that there might be new hardware that would limit this possibility. |
Motion Trails?

I'm guessing Andrew |

I hope JVC will find their own path to follow! |
For Miltos
Hi Misto, I see your very Greek name and I am wondering are you living in Greece? I am From Greece too but I live the last 15 years in Bali Indonesia. By the way, I asked the JVC representative in Jakarta about new upgrades and he said that they have no news and no instructions. Lets wait and see.

Originally the HD200 was suppose to have the same body as the 100... however, since the 200 will also take the new body of the 250, its possible the internal workings of the 200 won't even fit in the 100 body. |

I cross my fingers hoping for some good news on the subject! Milas Elinika? |

Well, if the encoding is done on a special encoding chip maybe it is possible to replace it or rewrite it! I would not even give it a second thought if i could have such an upgrade by JVC for 400-500 euros. Maybe Carl Hicks could enlighten us on the subject... |

The 100 series cameras deliver amazing picture quality and features at their price range. The 200 series will be a significant step up in terms of performance, features, and price. |

Oh well... We'll just have to learn how to live with it i guess. :-) |
I knew when I purchased that JVC would soon announce new products. My primary interest is in 24p, so I'm not worrying about the new 2XX products.
I'm just hoping they keep a 100 version and lower the price. Lots of Low Budget/Independent Movie makers out there who would fall in love with this camera at the right price point. |
I fell in love because it WAS the right price point.
$ 5,000 USD for full resolution 720 line progressive scan / no subsampling / 24 frame imaging is a remarkable value to this day. There will be plenty of used ones on ebay for less money next year I'm sure. |
