Footage with STOCK lens....

Now there’s a great sticky post that has a bunch of the finished projects with the HD100/110 and such cameras... BUT there’s hardly any information about how these were shot (with lens adapters or not).

I guess what im trying to get at is, can we get together a post with all of the finished or working clips that was shot with the stock lens instead of using the very expensive mini-35 adapter or other adapters?

I think this would be VERY helpful for people who want to shoot with the HD100 but cant afford to buy or rent adapters... It could show people what this camera can do right out of the box, after all there are still a lot of people who want to shoot with this camera but can't pay for much else. I know how to push cameras to their limit but i want to see what people have done with the stock lens.

at the very least some info as to if the footage was used with an adapter or without.

:-)

I will be finishing a short I made this summer in about 2 weeks. It was shot with the stock lens and the JVC wide adapter. I'm not a pro video/film guy, but I was able to get some great shots imo. there are a few frames that were shot during production here as well, but they are 1/2 size (the 16:9 images).

HD100/Stock Fujinon Lens

Hi Giuseppe,

http://447productions.com/stock.html (Stock Footage Demo)

The link above (2 min RT) is strictly HD100U, stock Fujinon lens, 720/24p HDV recorded to Panasonic DVM63 MiniDV tapes ($5 per tape) and captured native 1280x720 at 59.97, conformed to 23.98 using Cinema Tools (this was back in April '06). No color correction was applied to THIS demo for the sole purpose of allowing an undiluted, raw feel for what the basic HD100 package could manage. The link was compressed using h.264 but if you contact JVC directly, they should be able to provide you with these exact clips in native 1280x720 Quicktime files.

The menu settings were fairly basic:
24pHDV
0db
Shutter Speed: 1/48
Master Black: Normal
Detail: -3
Skin Detect On: -2
Black: Normal
White Clip: 108%
Knee: Manual 85%
Motion Smooth: Off
Cinelike/Color Matrix: Off
Color Gain: 3

On the other hand, there is a spot for Lucky Brand Jeans under title "MARKETING PROMO" which is on the same page, and that was shot HD100/M2/Nikon 50mm. All the same menu setting except detail was set to 3.

That's why the discussion links are there. I would say that only a few of the productions in that list were shot with either the 13x lens or a mini35 adapter.

The point of the sticky thread is to track finished projects submitted for discussion by the users of this board. I don't organize it by lens/model/settings or any other elements used, and I don't discriminate based on production values. I simply update it as members submit new finished works.
The different tools used (lighting/matte boxes/filters/follow focus/lenses/adapters/electronic settings/NLE) are all great topics for discussion.
If you see something you would like to know more about, then click on the discussion link and read the thread or ask the filmmaker a question.

We aren't here to promote the cameras for JVC. We are simply a community who help each other and post our work for interest's sake.

Taylor,
You should start a new thread with the direct link to the Lucky Jeans spot. I'm sure there are many who would like to discuss the M2 experience with you.

Wow - very nice stuff! This camera loves outdoor, daylight scenes for sure... Well done.

Thanks for responding everyone, and I’m sorry to Tim Dashwood if there was a misunderstanding, I never meant that there SHOULD be a sticky or that that’s the reason for this site, I only thought it would be a nice thing to have on here because I’ve had a few people ask me if they could see some stuff that was already done with this camera and i usually send them to here to check out the stuff and read what people have to say about them.
