The HDV to HD converter and JVC
 

Hi guys!

First of all I have just ordered the JVC HD251U camcorder and its BR-HD 50E VTR today! I’m really excited and can’t wait to get my hands on it. As I have stated in the past threads that I own an Avid Adrenaline HD editing suite and tried to find a solution to make my new camera compatible with my editing suite. I was almost about to purchase the Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 software and use it with a Mac G5 which I already have but is used for other purposes, until I stumbled across this site that claims to be able to convert JVC HDV into HD or SD.

The system offered is “The HD-Connect SI, Convergent Design”, this is their site:

So, does anybody know anything about this product? Has anyone tested it with the JVC camcorder and the Avid Adrenaline HD? Is there any loss of signal?

Er, yes this is the product that I recommended to you days ago when you first asked about using ProHD/HDV1 with Avid!

Yes, it does work fine but you still have project limitations within Avid, of course. This interface will also cross-convert to 1080i so that you can work in 1080p or 1080i (as PsF) projects. However, if you are capturing 25, 24 or 30p cross-conversion is effectively just an up-scale and I am not sure how well the interface will do this.

Thanks a lot Anthony! I don't know why I didn't notice your response in that previous thread earlier! I also got the telephone numbers of the resellers, I will check with them too and see what they'd say.
