Curious as to where I can purchase a foam insert to fit the JVC HD100. Anyone anyone?

I'm no native german speaker either, but as a belgian guy, I have to be able to make conversation in 4 languages, eh?

Problem is: I have been looking for this myself for a very, very long time, and I absolutely couldn't find anyone retailing it. Eventually I ended up at a manufacturer that makes furniture, they had it but couldn't sell to a private person (but eventually we could make a deal) and I can tell you it wasn't cheap in anyway. After I got it there I found this seller (so my point is that I really doubt there are a lot others out there). I suppose they will send it everywhere in the world and if you don't understand their german, they'll surely be happy to help you in English if you send 'em a mail (we europeans all speak serveral languages :-) ).

Nupe, that's in german. I should know because dutch would be my native language indeed... (on that count: german and dutch are a lot alike, so I can understand the confusion)

thanks for the help. Problem is I bought a JVC case off ebay hoping to use it for the JVC HD100. My guess is it's the CB 2990 fitted for the DV550U. If I did my math right I would need 2 foam inserts in dimensions roughly around 762 x 533 x 178.

I called JVC and I asked what would happen if someone damaged their inserts, and the answer I get is they would have to buy another case. With that sort of answer I'm not very pleased with JVC right now. Maybe carl can provide some insight.

I purchased foam from a fabric store when I made my case. Cost me 40.00 to get a sheet of foam 36wx96lx7d

I just cut it to fit.

I just went to a fabric store in Plano TX. They had alarge selection in the back, from thin, to thick.

I would not try Joanne Fabrics as they might not, but do try some smaller ones.

Furniture upholstery shops are another good source for foam. They usually have a big selection of various types and thickness. Most of time, a large sharp knife (like a kitchen knife) is all you need for cutting the foam. Some folks have recommended electric carving knives, and there are also hot wire cutters for making complex cuts in foam.

Another option is a company that specializes in foam packaging for electronic equipment cases. It's usually very expensive for a one-off, but you do end up with a totally custom fit.

there's a trick to cutting foam. if you can find a freezer large enough, freeze it befor you cut it. beleive me, it gets so easy when it's hard ;o)

Thanks for the tips guys. So far I've only found white foam...which I guess is okay but not for $40 and good for one side. I'm having doubts any upholstery shops will have it in grey. I actually have a freezer big enough, i will definitely try that out.
