Battery Issue

Hello, I just recently got jvc hd110... However, the battery isn't working properly. It's the infolithium battery 438... I charged it completely, let die, charged it again, and it's still not working. The camera will turn on for roughly for 5 seconds, then an error appears which says 'low voltage'. I need to get a new battery, I tried calling JVC, and I couldn't connect to there pro hotline. I got connected 5 times, and each time i was disconnected. I need a new battery fast. In the hd110 manual it says the bn-v428 and bn-v438 are the only compatible batteries... The charger I have is the aa-p30. Basically, what I'm asking is, where can find a bn-v438 battery and charger? I looked everywhere online, and I can't find anything. JVC doesn't have the charger I need on their site. Responses are much appreciated! The sooner, the better. I got a few live events coming up soon! Thanks so much.

Contact any of our JVC dealer sponsors, listed at http://www.dvinfo.net/sponsors/ -- any of those full line dealers will be able to help you, for one example, Scott Cantrell of TapeWorks Texas Inc. is very knowledgeable about the JVC Pro HD line. Just pick up the phone and give 'em a call. Full contact info can be found on our Sponsors page at that link.

there's just a TON of aftermarket battery replacements that are just as good as the JVC factory batteries. do a google search for the battery part number to find them. if you just got your 110, JVC authorized dealers are giving away free IDX battery systems. Tapeworks might be a good source to get in on this offer from JVC. i'm usig the IDX system on my HD110 and am very happy with that choice. the added weight on the camera really makes shoulder mounted shooting much more balanced and comfortable. It also provides a very nice place to mount my FS4 tapeless recorders.

Thanks, guys. I'll definitely be calling one of the sponsers, Chris. How do I go about acquiring one of the IDX battery systems, Bill?

If you purchased in December from an authorized dealer you should have been given an IDX battery system for free. http://pro.jvc.com/pro/special/HD110...idx_promo.html

In addition to your free IDX package, which your reseller shoud provide to you, please contact your reseller and have them order a replacement charger or battery for you.

Be advised that the shipement of the free IDX battery systems sometime lags behind the shipment of the camera. Please contact your reseller for shipping info. If you purchased from an authorized reseller within the promo period, then you are entitled to it.

Douglas, that may not be a battery issue. I had the same problem with my SWIT batteries after sending the camera for a firmware update. JVC UK made a mess with the power circuit and it was happening exactly the same that you describe, however it was working fine with the BN-V428 batteries. I had to send it to JVC Portugal to correct the problem and it's working fine now.

Regards,

I'm entitled. Adorama advertises the IDX "rebate" on their site. They have told me they need to upload "rebate" forms for the IDX kit. When I told them JVC's site says there are no claim forms to file, they stopped returning my emails.

I'm assuming, since they're advertising the promotion, that Adorama is an authorized reseller.

Hi Matthew,

The current promo does not require any sort of rebate form. The authorized dealer is sent the free IDX package when they buy the camera from JVC. They are to pass the IDX package onto the customer when they sell the camera. Please contact your dealer again to secure the IDX package. See this page on our website for details of the offer:

You can also check to see if a dealer is authorized by using our dealer locator. Just go to a product page, click on the "Contacts and Dealers" link on the left, and key in your zip code and submit.
