Panning with HD101

I am presently learning how to shoot with my 101.
I have been told that this camera because it shoots at P25 is not good for panning shots as it flickers.
Is this true?

Thanks

Martin

This is an issue with 24p and to a similar extent 25p. Apparently top end film cameras also do this. You have to learn to pan smoothly and slowly to minimise this effect.

Interlaced video was created to prevent this.

I believe interlace was used to reduce bandwith on transmission rather than reducing panning effects. 50p or 60p would make more sense than interlace in most respects.

Brian you are quite right. I didn't word my sentence correctly. Interlacing does help to remove the judder seen in 24p.
