720p24 video playback in FCP5.1.4 thru BR-HD50

Hello all,

I am trying to use an old tube tv to monitor some HDV720p24 footage shot
with my HD100, and I have my BR-HD50 connected to the mac via firewire, and connected to the TV using the Component out. Unfortunately FCP is not recognizing the BR-HD50 as a Video Playback option (HDV 1280 x 720 24p is greyed out as an option, leaving only "None" and Digital Cinema Display available under A/V Devices)... any help would be greatly appreciated

Ben

also, when playing back a tape recorded in 720p24 in my BR=HD50, the footage is shown (on the tube TV) in Black and White. Thoughts?

You can only preview HDV footage from an editing system through a black magic or aja hardware interface/card.

I think the cheapest ones are around 200 bucks usd.

As for the footage being black and white, if you are feeding the component outs to your TV you might have one of them plugged in incorrectly.

as a test, try just the composite or s-video and see what you get.

Most tube tv's and LCD flat panels are not capable of showing native 24p footage so it might have odd looking movements. I've heard all plasma monitors can show it though.
