Jvc Warning Alarm
 

Hello:
I just went to use my new 110u, put a new IDX battery ENDURA 7S on it and turn it on
went to put a tape in it all sudden i got a alarm go off all the tally lights and the HDV/DV LED were blinking look at view finder no picture. the camera has 20 fan hrs 8 tape run hrs. i was doing test shots last night in the studio it worked fine
the Batt is brand new a full charge on it i called a pro tech at JVC he said the camera should not do this . I turn the camera off waited about 10 second turn it on
it work ok. then turn it off waited about a min. turn it on the alarm again.
i baby this camera in everyway.
I took the battery off and reinserted again now it seem to work ok
I'm a little worry i have a shoot this sunday
Has anybody ran in to this problem with this camera.
If so could you tell me what was causing this to happen

I have exactly the same problem and i'd love to see if it's a serious fault. It's never inconvenienced me as i just turn it off and on again and it works absolutely fine, but is this a common behaviour?

My gut feeling is that it's not the battery but the camera itself, but i'm only guessing.

Anybody know any more?

maybe we discovered another bug in the camera.I talked to a local JVC person and he said he has never heard of this happening. I love this camera
but i don't want problems. I moved up from a Sony FX1 by the way never gave me 1 problem in 2 years.
I don't want to feel that i can't trust the camera.
The camera is outstanding. i'm sure If there is serious problem with the camera JVC will make it right

Was there a 4 digit error code on the LCD? Did the LCD say anything?

Also, how fast was the tally light blinking? 4 times per second, or once per second?

Was the alarm a solid tone, or beeping once per second.

Was the HDV/DV light and/or the VTR LED blinking?


These are all indicators for JVC tech as to what the problem may be.
Likely it is a system error triggered by the IDX battery during the startup self-diagnostic.
Do both of you have IDX systems?

It is the first I've heard of any issues like this, so please keep us informed as to the outcome.

well here's what happens to me...I've only ever had this fault using the IDX system but i very very rarely use any other power source so i can't rule out it being just this battery.

LCD remains completely blank, only a temporary flicker on the screen then nothing.

Always once a second. HDV Light blinks also.

No alarm tone whatsoever. Just flashing tally and HDV.

Yep, both.

I hope it's not a serious problem, as i said it's hardly an inconvenience really seems like the camera just needs another try at starting up.

yes to alarm stayed on, 4 blinks per second the vtr light was on
the hdv/dv led was also flashing and the all the tally lights.and there was no picture on the LCD/VIEWER
and yes i do have IDX system . i used a new endura 7s batt.
i have try to see if it will do it again thank GOD no.
I was wondering Tim when i inserted the battery if didn't push all the way down and making only part contact
do you think this could cause this

I´ve had the same problem once, the error disappeared on shutdown / restart. Haven´t been able to reproduce it and the local JVC reps didn´t know either.

Mine also has a similar problem since I bought it and it happens with any power source, batteries or power supply. Sometimes when I turn it on the leds start blinking and there's this message displayed on the LCD "Turn power off, turn back on later" described on page 86 of the manual. I sent it twice to JVC (UK and Portugal) and the issue remains. I'm sending it to service again soon, I wonder if anyone had experienced the same and if JVC found a solution.

I got a feeling that maybe theres a bug in one of the chip or chips.
Is your camera a 110u or a 100u. I wonder if this ever happens in the 200u/250u series. or if it just 100/110 series.
I wonder how many people that own this camera have it happen to them
and say nothing about it. if enough people don't report it to JVC the company
can't fix it.I have 2 pro JVC decks and they have been great in fixing problems
i had with them.

My Camera is a HD101E, I have posted my problem before the existence of the 110 and never found anyone with a similar situation. JVC upgraded the firmware to the last version and didn't solve the problem. They told me it didn't happen to them, it occurs only once in 20/30 times it is turned on... it's not easy to detect.

its just happened to my 201e.

I might hazard a wild guess...totally unsubstantiated but based on past experience with computer processor controlled electronics. As predictable and repeatable as computer processors are supposed to be, we all know that they are fallible, many times corrupted by power surges or interruptions. It's possible that you experienced a hiccup resulting from power interruption. Try cleaning the battery contacts to be sure there aren't interruptions due to poor contact. Rub the battery contacts with an abrasive style pencil eraser until it looks bright/shiny.

Same thing is happening with Steve Rice's HD101E. Thought it may have been the damp tape alarm but it seems to co-incide with a power-up after a battery swap, sometimes only after selecting VTR playback.

This camera has the v-lock batteries fitted.

Also have only seen it since the DR-100 was fitted.

Camera seems to happily reset and work fine afterwards.

Any new news would be appreciated.
