JVC GY HD200 Question

I'm a new user and trying to get acquainted with my new HD cam. Since I haven't been able to get a straight answer on 60p support with Avid XPRO HD, I've accepted the fact I can only shoot and post 60i or 30p at this time. The only setback is the 30p HDV image out of my 200 has the film look. I'm not completely savvy on frame rates yet, but should this be the case?

Please let me know if I can change my settings to achieve clean HDV video in the 720/30p mode. This may be a stupid question, sorry in advance..haha

Hi Bill,
If by "film look" (a much confused term) I assume you mean the stepped flicker - that is the look of progressive at lower (24-30) frame rates the answer is yes - that is the nature of the beast. The advantage of the the 200 (which I also have) is the 60p aquisition which will give you smooth motion. However currently editing with this requires a multi-step conversion or hardware solutions with most editing systems.
Avid doesn't support JVC HDV progressive formats at 24p or 60p as I understand. The JVC does not shoot HD at 60i or any interlaced HD format.
It's a great camera, but there will be some effort to adjust out here on the bleeding edge.

Thanks so much

Thanks Sean..

I figured that was the case, just hoping it wasn't. I love the stepped flicker (thanks for the term), but not all the time. Have you heard anything at all about Avid on future support? The 60p is so clean, I just want to edit and have so much invested into the Avid family at this time. Is it a huge process to import or capture the 60p?
I don't want you to type this up..haha but if you know of any related threads or info links, I would greatly appreciate it.

Bill
