hm700 and drhd100

anyone know if the dr hd100 will be compatible with the new hm700?

Tim Dashwood March 16th, 2009 03:07 PM

Yes but only in 19mbps and 25Mbps bitrates (and downconverted DV.)

I'm toying with the idea of keeping my DTE if I sell my HD110, just to extend my record times when HDV is fine. Hmmm...

hey tim, so will the dr-hd100 capture the xdcam ex codec 19mbs or just hdv 19mbs from the hm700? thanks

The same as if it was connect to a HD 100 or 200: HDV stream (m2t or .mov wrapper) or DV NTSC/PAL.

so it won't capture the new sony codec?

Sean Adair April 2nd, 2009 01:44 PM

Amos - make that new sony "wrapper". 19mps mpg2 is the same "codec" and compression quality whatever the package. If your edit system wants .mp4 then you may have an issue. I doubt Focus or even clipwrap would develop a translator. Although possible, this would be a smaller market than those who wanted .mov wrappers over m2t, since 19mbs .mp4 probably won't be used as much as 35mbs.
