Print To Video w/ HM 700

Hello,

Does anyone know the trick to get the HM 700 to see print to video from FCP 7?
I have to do this to feed news packages over Live U backpack when there is no
fast internet available.

On the GY-200, you put the camera in VTR mode and there it is. The recorder begins with a command from
Final cut. Very easy.

On the HM 700, VTR is called Media mode, and it is not seeing Final Cut.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks.

If I follow you correctly, you want to use the 700 as a recorder? Media mode is for checking video captured on an external device, not for recording, if that's what you want to do. Manual quote:

" This (media) mode is used for viewing images input into the {IEEE1394} terminal from an external device and not intended for recording input images on the camera recorder."

I believe only the 790 has a vtr capability.

Battle,
Thanks for your response.
It seems odd that the 700 is an upgrade to the 200, but would not have the capability to do print to video.

I understand that video is toast, but it is still a great back-up for worst-case scenarios.

Re: Print To Video w/ HM 700

I did web video for a large newspaper before I retired, and a lot of what we did required camera-as-vtr for pool feeds and such. I think this is an important capability for any ENG type camera. It is an unfortunate oversight and I think one that could probably be fixed in firmware, although I don't know that as a fact. But the 790 alone has the vtr ability, according to the manuals. Bummer.
