HM600 advanced settings
 

So now that I've had my HM600 for a while and I'm familiar with its features and usage, I've been wondering about the more advanced settings in the menu. I've always left most of them as default. Master black, black toe, knee, gamma, colour matrix, detail, etc. To be honest, I don't know what a lot of them do.

Does anyone have any recommendations for these? Are they best left as default?

I do find the footage out of the camera to be a bit soft and not quite as sharp as I'd like. Is there anything I can do in-camera to help with this?

Hi Jody

That all relates to your Image Profile in the camera. Panasonic call them scene files and Sony call them Picture Profiles. Panny had a very good PDF file on their cameras that explained exactly what each setting does and how it will affect the image, in layman's terms too!! Try searching for Panasonic Scene Files and you might find it.

On the JVC you also should be able to save various combinations and call them up as and when you want to??

Definitely worth the read either way. I assume I can apply most of their definitions to other cameras?

Exactly! It's a useful bit of reading with examples to actually show you what the setting does to the image. Some camera profiles will have different names but the standard stuff is much the same for any camera with profiles and you will find that profile settings in something like an HM750 can quite easily be applied to the 600 or 650.

On the EA-50 profiles can also be used from the FS100 and 700 so that gives you a bigger choice but you do need to enter details manually.
