HM100 in a Lowepro x200
 

a bunch of friends and family all combined forces and got me a Lowepro x200 Roller bag as i've been doing a lot of flying around filming stuff (life is good!)

i have a portabrace cargo 300 which the camera fits nicely into but isn't a whole lot of good on airplanes, and also a backpack which worked brilliantly with my HD7 (and still does) but is just too small to fit the HM100

there's 3 mics, a lead, headphones, backup drive, backup mini DV cam (uses the same batteries), basic makeup kit, filters, wideangle, lens cleaner, 2 chargers and all cables as well as cards in the little pouches supplied...

thought it might be interesting for anyone looking for a similar solution

the bag is kinda big, it makes me a little nervous checking in but so far no dramas, it converts to a back pack should i ever get told it's too big, but it DOES fit into the overhead lockers of a 737 (the smallest ones i've seen)

But you are braver than I am. I would personally *never* check in camera gear. If I am filming abroad the only thing I ever check in is the tripod. Camera (if full size goes on shoulder, if mini, in carry-on case) and audio gear / peripherals go as hand carry-on. That way if checked baggage is lost, late or stolen, the there is always the most important part of the puzzle left to film with. Also - have you ever seen what baggage handlers do in their spare time, let alone their work time?!

Nice bag though - I use a Pelican 1510 roller but could be persuaded by something like this in max carry-on size. The size I work to is British Airways maximum which is 56cm high by 45cm wide by 25cm deep. I note the x100 fits under these dimensions except for the depth of 28cm, 3 over the x100. As long as it fits into one of the metal measuring thingies at Heathrow T5, I'm happy. I could write a book on how *not* to approach airline check-ins....

Slightly OT, but last weekend I learned a valuable lesson;
When the nice security officer looks up from the scanner and asks "What's the long tubular thing in your carrry-on bag Sir?" Do NOT call it a Shotgun Microphone!!! You may never get the second word out :-)
