Editing JVC HM100 and Panasonic GH1 Footage?
 

I'm looking at picking up a small camcorder to use alongside/intercut with my GH1 (soon to be GH2).

The obvious choice is the Pana HMC40, but sometimes I need to deliver to my main client in PAL format (50i specifically, although I just delivered in 25P and they were okay with it). That said, I wouldn't mind being able to have the option of shooting for broadcasters in the Americas.

So the HMC40 not being NTSC/PAL switchable is a strike against it unfortunately. The HM100, on the other hand, is switchable.

I currently transcode the .mts files to Prores and edit in FCP.

I'll also post this on the GH1 board.

Dave,
the HM100 would definitely be a very good choice. Especially as you work in Final Cut Pro. The HM100 record format can be set to Quicktime file format. Having set this, you can immediately import the video clips into your FCP project by drag and drop - no transcoding or long lasting import process is necessary.
And, the HM 100 can be switched to 50Hz (PAL countires).

However, I don't think I stated my question properly.

I'm more interested in how I'd edit footage from the GH1 and HM100 in the same timeline ...

I am not a FCP user. With Media Composer Version 5 you can mix clips with different formats in one timeline, i.e. not onlydifferent resolution but also different framerate.
