importing mov files or mp4?

I searched the forums but I am having difficulty importing files in to avid, mov files in either 1080 or 720 show up white, when switching to mp4 avid says it cannot import at al? I am using mediacomposer 5 with windows 7 on a Imac. According to JVC and some of the posts here it should import ,by the way the mov files do not show up in windows (only audio) and in quick time. When I run it in mac mode it imports fine in to fcp.
can anybody clarify.

Re: importing mov files or mp4?

For MC on a windows system, you should shoot in MP4-fomat (not in MOV).

Install Sony's CDCAM-EX AMA-plugin for MC 5.5, which you can get here:

Sony | Micro Site XDCAM

Having installed this plugin, you can use "Link to AMA-Volume" from MC's File-menu. Maneuver to the JVC-folder of the SDHC-card (or its copy on harddisk), and press enter. All clips will show-up in a new bin.
