Can you set the HM100 to shoot in 4:3 ?

I feel dumb asking this, as I should be able to figure it out easily enough... then again, who would want to shoot in 4:3? But, I have to shoot some standard def 4:3 stuff for a local TV station that is not yet broadcasting in HD. So, rather than make them reformat everything I shoot, I would like to hand them native SD 4:3 footage. Can I set the HM100 to do that?

Thanks...

Hallo Ben,
the camera cannot record SD, only HD modes. However, it can be set to output SD-signals at the "Video", "Component", and "HDMI" ports. You can select the appropriate values in the menu.
Your camera will then output the recorded material in the s elected format.
Doing so, you would need an appropriate capture tool, which can capture from one of these connectors.
Good luck,

Joachim

Edit:
I have just tried another alternative. I used Sony's XDCAM-Browser and exported the original HD-clips (in my case HD720P/50) as DV-AVI. These converted clips were imported into TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress and then converted into PAL. They came out as 720x576 clips with 16:9-fomat. I loaded the clips into Media Composer and globally added a BCC UPRez filter and changed the pixel aspect ratio to "square". This results in a video forrmat, which is shown with black stripes on top and bottom of a 4:3 screen. You could also use a standard resize-FX and scale the vertical (y) to 0,7 with the same result.
