DSR-45 for HDV?

Hey all
I have access to a DSR-45 and some tapes shot on a JVC GY-HD100. The format shot was 720/30p. Will this deck work?

If I can't use this deck, is there one that someone could recommend that would work for me that I could rent?

DSR-45 won't work for HDV. The JVC HDV format works best with the JVC deck. Try looking for this deck JVC HDV PRO DECK - BR-HD50. Some of the Sony HDV decks have playback capability but not through firewire Analog only.

If all you want to do is capture analog/component the DSR45 works. Otherwise, not.

I've rented the JVC BR-HD50 for $175 and I can't get final cut to recognize it. I'm going to make my signature quote "Editing is not a battle...It is a war"

I think it may be my version of Final Cut. I have 4.5 It looks as though it supports it, but I am not sure...

Jeff,
Not sure which DSR-45 you are talking about but the one I am talking about is Standard Def DVCAM DV only not HDV. I think you are referring to the Sony HVR-M15U and the HVR-M25U

Steven,
Sorry to hear your version of Final Cut Pro doesn't recognize the JVC deck. This is why I call HDV " Hard DV" as it really has very little of the compatibility which DV had with cameras, decks and computers. Check with JVC and Apple if there is any way to deal with Final Cut and JVC deck you rented. HTH

The DSR45 is a DVCAM deck; it will only play back SD.
