TapeWorks Texas, Inc. can now Recycle / Evaluate / Recertify your Sony HDCAM SR, and all other ˝ professional recording media.

As I’m sure you know, tape is scarce. As a result, TapeWorks Texas has acquired all the necessary equipment to properly clean, erase, and recertify high coercivity Sony HDCAM SR. Upon evaluation/certification, each tape receives a printed receipt identifying its record ability. The “Pass” rate for HDCAM SR varies depending on numerous factors including number of recordings, age, humidity, dust in its record/storage environment, condition of recording equipment, etc.

What you do:

Send us your tape. We’ll provide a form (or you can provide your own) listing number of tapes by record length and format. Customer pays freight to:

What we do: RECYCLE, EVALUATE, RECERTIFY

Step 1: Cleaning the cassettes and albums
a. Remove all stickers and labels.
b. Attempt to remove Sharpie and other permanent marker ink from cassettes and albums. (It’s worked so far on tests of fresh ink.)
c. Remove excess glue and residue.
d. Review tapes and albums for physical or cosmetic damage.
e. Apply antistatic treatment to cassette.
f. Log results on “Inspected by” ticket.

Step 2: Evaluate and Recertify as Master Grade T-Val HDCAM SR
a. Degauss and provide Full Width Erasure of recorded signal on all ˝ inch magnetic tape media including HDCAM SR with coercivity rating up to 2800 Oersted.
b. Powerful erasure strength provided by -75dB saturated, long wavelength signals.
c. Utilize three vacuum-assisted wiping tissues effectively removing loose oxide and dirt from tape surface.
d. Precision dual sapphire burnishing system polishes recording surface, eliminating “snowplow” debris and improving head-to-tape contact to virtually eliminate temporary dropouts.
e. Identify tape damage for physical defects with virtually 100% edge to edge coverage utilizing an eight-cell photo receiver LaserSCAN detector along entire tape length.
f. Log tape record ability on “Pass/Fail” ticket.
