Recycling Panasonic DVM63MQs ?????

Howdy,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with recycling Panasonic DVM63MQs - or any DVCAM or MiniDV tape stock...

I tried blacking an already shot one but still saw a stripes pattern of old video - same thing shooting a tape over.

Can you degauss these little suckers? If so how??

I must have a couple hundred old tapes (1-3 years old) that have been stored at around 72F in my office and would love to reuse them on personal projects - but not enough that I end up with crap when I could've just spent the 5$ !!

Any hints, tips or tricks??

BTW - I've been reading these forums for a couple years now and this is the first time I had a question that I couldn't find an answer to already...

...you folks ROCK!

best,
-s

Not the tape.....

We have had that problem for some time now. I have found that if I take a tape that is doing that and advance it 15 minutes I can then get a good clean recording on the rest of the tape.

Works for us. YMMV!
