Problem with SIIG 1394b cardbus
[You guys are always so responsive on this forum, I don't know why I even waste my time waiting for replies from the actual manufacturers :)]
When my LaCie 300Gb Firewire 400/800 external drive is plugged into the built-in 1394a port, no problems. When I plug it into my new SIIG Firewire 800 3-port cardbus, it freezes the computer on reboot. So far no response from SIIG or Dell and LaCie says that it is not a problem with their drive. Anybody else with this problem? |
For some reason SIIG cards hate Dells. I worked in a lab and we installed 5 SIIG cards in 2 Zeon and 3 P4 dells and they all did the same thing. They would freeze on boot. I hate to say it but you need a new card.

That's alright. I had already assumed I would need to send it back.
I think I will stick with 1394a cards, regardless of the brand until 1394b is more widely supported. Thanks for the response, Jim |
