My Canon DVM-E80 Tape is cut off

In the middle of rewinding, the DV tape eject error was displayed on EVF and I ejected the tape.

The tape is cut off!!

How can I connect these two end?

Is it possible that the connected area will damage the head when it passed?

Where can I find the picture of dissassembled mini-DV tape?
I need it to reassemble the tape case.

How can I avoid this things happen again?

This is $17 Canon 80 minute tape.

Hey Ken, did you see this one? Another 80-minute horror story!

I hope someone that knows their stuff answers this....I can imagine an improper splice really screwing up the video head.

Under no circumstances should you attempt to splice this tape yourself. You can do serious damage to your camera.

To get your DV tape repaired properly, call my sponsor Pro-Tape in Austin, TX at (512) 443-3911. Ask for Mike, Larry or Craig They have a guy who can fix it.

In the future, do not buy Canon tapes. If you need 80min. tapes, buy the more expensive Panasonc professional grade. Hope this helps,

More expensive DV tape?

I paid $17 for Canon DVM E-80.
Do you know the model # for the more expensive Panasonic professional DV Tape?

I recently bought the Panasonic MQ Master 60 minute tape (white cassette). I believe it's the best they (Panasonic) sell. Got them for less than $7.00 per tape. $17.00 seems way overpriced.

Check with Chris' sponsors.

Panasonic PQ

I just bought a 5 pack of the Panasonic PQ for 80 minutes - Will I have a problem with it?

Steve Kim January 9th, 2002 01:55 PM

Where can I buy Panasonic MQ Master tape?

Thank you for the information.
Could you tell me where I can buy those Panasonic tapes?
I'd searched all over in the Web, but I can't find them.

Vic Owen January 9th, 2002 04:22 PM

It's not one of Chris' sponsors, but the one I use is taperesources.com. They currently are advertising DVM-63MQ for 6.89 and DVM-83MQ for 12.70. These are the "Master" quality. The PQs are going for 4.79 and 9.60, respectively.

Both are good quality -- I went to the MQ to try to solve a tracking problem, which they didn't, but it's not the fault of the tape. Either should work well.

My mistake when I said "more expensive" -- I meant "higher quality" -- the Canon tapes are inferior and overpriced.

Recommend buying tape from my sponsor, Pro-Tape in Austn, TX at (512) 443-3911.
