Best DV Cassettes for GL2?

I asked this in anouther thread but I don't think anybody noticed it and I have tryed searching but haven't had any luck.

What tapes do you use guys use with the Gl's, or what works good with it? Is there any tape's that should be avoided? I know that tape selection is important, I heard it was one of the contributing factors to the video head failure on the GL2, so I warnt to make sure I get the most compatable cassettes.

Maxell tapes have worked best for me on my GL2 and XL2.

In general, with respect to any MiniDV, the consensus is keeping it consistent with one type of tape. Try not to mix brands because each uses a bit different formulation of lubricant- some dry, some wet.

I heard the same thing and I decided to go with a high quality tape when I purchased my XL2. The first 10 tapes I used were all Panasonic Master tapes and I got a glitch on almost every tape. I switched to Maxell a few days ago (that's what I use with my GL2 and had good results) and so far so good.
I'm not sure what type of lubricant Maxell uses though so it could be the same type as the Panasonic tapes for all I know.

Jim:

I ve been using TDK's lately in both of my Sonys (VX 2000, FX1), and before that, almost exclusively Panosonic. Have never really had any significant issues.

i had a gl1 and a small sony cam, and i have always had really good luck with fuji. they seem to handle alot of rewinding and fowarding with out breaking/

I also used exclusively TDK tapes with my GL2 for over a year without a single problem.
