Sony Excellence tapes with MEMORY, and good for GL2/XM2?

Hi,

Just read about these tapes and that they are supposed to have some "built in" memory for index-writing? If so, can I use that feature with my XM-2? Or is it "Sony" only?

Lars,

That feature is found only on some higher-end Sony camcorders. The Canon GL1, XM1, GL2, XM2 will not be able to use that feature. The Sony Excellence series is definitely very good DV tape, but don't bother with the IC memory chip. Hope this helps,
