Long term protection from moisture

I live in a pretty humid place. Does anyone know how I could protect my archive of miniDV tapes? I keep them in their plastic cases inside a box right now, but I have a feeling that's not even close to acceptable. I bet that if I leave them alone, they'll be messed up in a year or two. I'd love for these tapes to last for as long as possible. I mean, I've found VHS tapes from 20 years ago that still play with minimal damage. (I didn't always live in this humid of an area.) That kind of lasting power is amazing to me. If my miniDV tapes from today (and hard drives, although unlikely) were still alive and kicking in 2027, I'd be incredibly happy. I guess everyone has the long-term media archival problem, but is there any way to take care of these tapes to help them last a little bit longer?

you could get a pelican case with some desiccant to keep them dry and safe.
