REQ: GoPro power and rigging help

Hey folks, first time poster, long time lurker....

I'm going to use a HD GoPro for a couple of shoots I've got coming up, but need some suggestions on power and rigging.

The first is as a drum cam at a concert festival. Like with most cams I want to run the HD GoPro off AC power.
Now there are many AC to USB adapters, but I'd like to know if anyone here has tried this before and would recommend any specific model.

The second is for a log rolling competition. I'm looking to rig the cam to a log, to rotate with the rollers.
I can't attach any adhesive to the log, nor can I drive any nails, etc...into it.

At the moment the best solution I can think of is getting a small ratchet strap, cutting a small hole in the middle, and poking the camera arm through the hole while the base stays between the strap and the log.
Then tighten the strap down to hold the base and cam in place.
Make sense?

If anyone has better ideas/suggestions I'd really appreciate them sharing it.
Big thanks!
