Hi Renton

Unless you are physically under the launch area the camera angle is just too wide for fireworks. I shot Australia Day a few years back from out house about 10km from the launch site in the city and you could see vitually nothing!!

+1

Far too wide.

Often I shoot with the equivalent focal length of 50mm on full-frame dSLRs. You really need to use manual exposure and focusing as well, which of course the Gopro cannot do.

I tried mounting my Hero 2 up on my car to snag a local Christmas Lights Display and it was pretty lame for that even with the old firmware. Just not too hot for night period I suppose.

The problem is that there is no way to manually adjust the exposure. It will overexpose, and all you'll see is white streaks and blobs.

On the other hand if you could mount the go pro on the firework, with the lens facing down towards the trail and I don't know a parachute from a model rocket or something, it would probably be a really cool shot.... You know until the firwork blew the thing up, that probably wouldn't be as cool.

Who needs a paracute? I saw a video of a GoPro falling from 30000 feet and continuing to film.
