Anyone gambled $100 on the Monoprice camera?

Insanely cheap at less than $100.

Good reviews on their site, but it would be nice to hear from folks who know cameras. A lot of Monoprice stuff is really excellent quality, especially their HDMI cables.

The difference being an HDMI cable either works or it doesn't... it's digital. A camera isn't just a camera, it's the sum of it's parts.

I'll go ahead and assume that, like any other inexpensive camcorder, it's fine in good sunlight, and gets grainy/noisy fast as it gets dark at all. And by dark, I mean in the shade.

Sure, but I suspect Monoprice reverse engineered some other camera. For instance, I use their component to VGA and VGA to component converters, and find them to be every bit as good as any other brand. I'm tempted to order one and see how it works compared to a HD Hero 2.

When Monoprice sold just cables, I was their #1 fan, preaching the gospel to anyone who would listen.

They have broadened to things like routers, monitors, cameras. I have enough tangental experience with these items to say that I would probably not pull the trigger quite yet.
