Hero 3 Black wifi issue

I have searched the gopro forums for a fix of this issue my gopro is having. If anyone has the same specific issue I would love to know if they found a fix or workaround.

If you start recording when wifi is enabled it will shut off on its own after filming for 10 to 20 minutes. Whatever frame rate and with Protune off or on. If wifi is not enabled it will go on recording until card \ battery runs out.

Updated firmware to most recent (tried re-updating)
Sandisk 64GB class 10 (not fake)
Recharging battery through USB or on separate charger makes no difference.

Possibly the cameras overheating protection kicking in, it's programmed to close off the video file and power down the camera. To confirm, try the test again with wifi on but with a fan blowing air across the naked camera.

Detailed post is on the forum in my post.

I've also had this shut down issue. I don't believe it's related to heat as it shuts down using the cage in a good airflow. It's worth remembering that wi-fi sucks batteries hard & is therefore not recommended for long form recording...

Re: Hero 3 Black wifi issue

There are other circumstances where the camera will shut down, low voltage is another one of them. But eliminating overheating protection shutdown is necessary to move on to other causes.
