Sanyo and prices
 

Ok, so I think I'm gonna purchase a Sanyo for my trip this Christmas (don't want to bring the large camera on the plane). I'm reading about the Sanyo HD1000 and the HD2. Things seem to lead to the HD2 but why is the HD1000 priced 200 or so dollars more?

I may be missing something but I'm just not sure. Thoughts anyone?

the HD2 is 720P while the 1000 is full HD (MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format.)

the HD1000 is bigger than the HD2 as well, overall i am happy with the HD2...

I will also add that the bit rate of the HD2 is 9MBPS while the HD1000 is 12MBPS. Another big deference is that although the HD1000 has a 720 mode as well, you can choose 60p. You’re stuck with only 30p on the HD2.

It uses a CMOS chip instead of a CCD which gives you better color reproduction and because it has fewer pixels than the HD2, the HD1000 is better for low light situations.

If it was me choosing, I would definitely get the HD1000.

Also I just saw that the HD1000 has the ability to add ring adaptors (fisheye lens, wide angle, ect.)

Another Advantage
 

If you're looking for an ultra portable camera to compliment your full sized HD video camera (ex. Canon XH-A1), the HD1000 might shoot in the same video size (1080i60). It might not look as good as your full sized camera, but at least you won't lose as much resolution from re-sizing.
