Sanyo Xacti HD700 Samples

These are samples, still and video, I've taken with my new pocket carry camera, Sanyo Xacti HD700. There's been zero adjustment or corrections (operator errors and flaws are still there). Only one that's not the full clips, start to end, is the industrial one and that's because I shot a lot there and put together a sampling. These will be up for about a month:

With the camera being $299 right now at Amazon, it's a bargain.

Wide Angle Adapter

I've been adding to this and will continue to over the next week or so.

I think I have a cheap workable idea on adding a wide angle lens (filters, etc.) to the HD700. If I can find a 37mm clear filter or step-up ring or something with 37mm threads (my 0.5x lens has 37mm threads) I'll put it together and post what I did and some tests soon.

I was discussing ideas for adding a lens with a friend yesterday and he had another, not as easy to do and would kill the pocketcam feature, idea. I shot him as he was discussing it and slipped my 0.5x adapter over the lens in while shooting. So, if you don't mind holding the lens in your hand, it works pretty well. Also, not shown, but the HD700's 5x zoom range works with the WA lens. It's the Wide Angle Adapter clip:

Settings

Dave,

Would you mind posting the settings you used for the different clips you did there? The swapmeet clip looks very sharp so I'm wondering how you did that. I just got my camera from Amazon for $300 (great deal) and "auto-everything" mode isn't necessary the best. Thanks.

Everything on the site so far was shot in Auto (P) mode. There's no settings EXIF data for the videos so I can't look them up, sorry. I keep meaning to use the other settings but forget and the results I've had in full auto so far have been pretty decent.

I do have the image setting on Soft as Normal was a bit too sharp for me. Focus mode is 9-AF, exposure Multi, ISO - Auto, White Balance - AWB, Digital zoom, Face Chaser, and Noise Reduction are Off.

Put a copy of most of the HD700 videos on Vimeo, including a test with a rather neat Phoenix 0.45x magnetic lens:

Added some stills from the HD700 to my .mac site. Camera does some darn decent stills. It's a bit weird in that going from the 16:9 video to 4:3 stills gives you a wider view, side-to-side as was as the expected top-to-bottom. No idea why but I've gotten used to it. I like the camera!
