Why aren't there any HD2 reviews?

Is the camera that bad that there isn't a single website/person or magazine that wants to review it? I've never seen so much of a complete lack of interest for such an innovative product. As much as i would like to consider the HD2, the complete lack of interests scares me.

Sanyo is always low on the totem pole, and they don't seem to have sent many out for review -- maybe because they got so beat up in the past. They have one at:

http://www.akihabaranews.com/en/en/review_lists.php

But they haven't published the review yet.
My own comments on the HD2 are set out in another thread comparing it to the Canon TX1.

Leo Laporte

Tech Journalist Leo Laporte did a review on his podcast for the original HD1a a while back and he mentioned recently he will be reviewing the HD2 next week. the podcast is "the daily giz wiz" on twit.tv
I know he is not a Video professional but he is well respected in the tech community.

Leo Laporte. I remember him from tech TV. I forget the name of the show. I remember now. it was the "screensavers".

Thanks

I went to the site and all they had was a one paragraph blurb. (Below). I want the camera but I would like to see some reviews first. I guess that wont happen with the HD2?

From akihabaranews.com:
"Sanyo is back with the DMX-HD2
Sanyo was the first company to hit the market with an HD video camera, the Xacti, a compact video camera able to record in 720p. If the idea was excellent, reality proved entirely different, as the HD1 was far from providing videos of good quality. But Sanyo is persevering and is now offering a new Xacti HD, the DMX-HD2. So what's new? First, it goes from 7.1 to 7.38Mpix, it has a new sensor, support for SDHC (up to 8GB), ISO400 to ISO1600, HDMI on the base, and a 9Mbps BR in 720p. Recording takes 58mn on a 4GB SD card. But the real question is: does Sanyo finally provide us with a product capable of recording real HD videos, or just a pixel based video camera? We’ll see!"

The brief blurb was after the announcement of the HD2. They haven't reviewed the one they got yet.

What is the point of comparing it to a HV20 or an Everio? It doesn't add up either in size, price or tech epscs.

The only contender for it out there at the moment is the TX1.

just my 2c

Camcorderinfo says that they have an HD2 - TX1 comparison coming up. That should be interesting, but I couldn't wait and bought both. I posted my initial impressions here previously and so far nothing has changed my views.

They might as well add this to that comparison.
