4k raw on Nikon V1
 

Shooting 4k raw on the V1 using it's raw burst mode.
Short clips only but it's a heck of a cheap and creative way of achieving 4k on a cash strapped budget.

I see he writes "short bursts of movement are authentic filmmaking technique", that might be true if you are sitting at the editing table choosing that exact moment you need out of a longer filmed sequence and show it for a second, only here you have half a second or a sec to get it exactly right when you film it. Press record a bit too soon or too late and you might miss it.

They also refer to Darren Aronfosky’s lucid moments in Requium for A Dream but all those shots where prepared with the camera rolling and then taking exactly those moments that matter to show for 1 second at a time which is a decision taken at the editing table. Only with the Nikon it's the camera that decides what that moment is and you take it or leave it at the editing table.

I"m sure some very creative people will find some use for it but it is a bit of a gimmick. Probably "4k" and "raw" gets people that exited over it.

For not moving objects, then you always can get the right shot, so here it works well, what I don't understand is that these shots last longer then a second, why is that?

Because you can shoot 100 shots in continuous burst mode. Just set the camera and hold down the external trigger and you have a 4K video camera-sort of.
