D750 Video Workout
 

A few weeks ago, I spent 4 days filming a photo shoot with 27 models. The D750 performed amazing and I just love the look it gives on the Auto WB2 setting. Here's the highlight reel from the 4 days.

Do you use AWB2 everywhere or just indoors? Footage looks really good. The D750 continues to impress.

Indoors seems to be the best spot to use it. Specifically indoors when you've got a lot of different potential light sources. Such as in this case where we had natural light, incandescent light, and LED, and others.

It does a much better job than traditional auto WB.

I work in situations where there's lots of mixed lighting - specifically lots of sun from windows in buildings with fluorescent lighting. I'm going to shoot some tests, your getting some really nice results.

I'm still trying to pull together the money to get my '750 so I don't know the answer to this yet. Can you point the '750 at a neutral white card like a traditional video camera and get a decent WB from that? Or are you simply guessing which WB setting to use?

You can most definitely do a manual WB using a card, and ideally I'd be using my DSC Labs one shot for WB... but on wedding day, I'm finding that unless in some extreme situation (like inside a church with stained glass windows, lots of red pews, and rich brown woods), AWB2 is a fantastic pretty accurate color rendering.

Over the weekend, I gave the D750 another monster workout and it performed great! 80% of this is D750 with 24-120 F4. There's some Tokina 11-16 and Tokina 100mm macro as well

Just saw this Kyle. You do great work and the D750 looks beautiful Can you talk about:

1. Which gimbal?
2. Which drone?
3. Which lenses you used?

Also, how many cameras do you cover a weeding like this with?

This past weekend I shot a wedding and used the "flat picture" profile. This morning I was messing around with that and my newly purchased Film Convert plug ins in PPCC, and man o man... I was incredibly impressed with what I was getting out of that combo.

I actually had tried to change all my cams to some sort of neutral profile... but the D750 footage looks incredible IMO... the video cams do not look anywhere near as nice. I may need to do more tweaking on that though.

As much as I hate not having the "Camcorder autofocus" ability, it's gotten me to thinking about getting 2 D7200s and 2 Atomos Ninja Blades (for overcoming the 29 minute record limit for ceremonies). Those would be my stationary cams (1 in the rear and 1 on the opposite side of where I am)

What if you have to shoot a ceremony outside and it's cloudy and the sun comes out from time to time, how would these unmanned Nikon's handle the exposure?

If that situation were to ever come up, I'd set them on something like Shutter Priority and let them run on auto probably.
