I think compressor's filling up my startup disk...
I'm trying to do some renders with Compressor, working with Uncompressed HD footage, set to render to my internal RAID, but it must be putting some temp files somewhere because my startup disk went from having around 100 gig's free to less than 10. Any ideas?

Did you render all the effects on the timeline?

Everything is rendered and exporting, I'm trying to convert my finished movie to an uncompressed HD movie

That's curious. I've never noticed the main drive behaving like that but I've never exported to uncompressed HD before. Are you getting low memory warnings?

Yeah, and I used disk inventory X to search my drive and i found big quicktime movie segments and trashed them... so there are definitely some temporary files getting created, now i just have to find out how to change where they go.

What codec is the original timeline? Have you tried exporting a QuickTime movie to an external drive and compressing that without FCP running?

The original codec is DVCPro HD 720p. I've edited and exported a Quicktime self contained movie to one of my media drives. I'm trying to use Compressor to up-convert it to 1080p using uncompressed. Final Cut isn't running, just compressor. The only thing stored on my startup disk in relation to this project is the FCP project file. All original footage and renders and finished exports are on a separate media drive.

Nate, just in case you haven't tried this:
- In Compressor, after selecting the export parameters, select your project by clicking on the icon in the "box" which will highlight the entire box - Select Target ==> Destination ==> Other and choose where you would like the output to go

Nevermind, I didn't read his later post... my comments didn't apply.
