Widescreen funny business & field issues..?

Hi all,

Apologies if this has been discussed previously - I couldn't find a mention of it. I've also posted it at the prem. 6.5 forums.

I've shot some footage using an XM2 (PAL version of the canon GL2) in it's 16:9 mode, which is a pseudo widescreen I believe.

I've capture it using my canopus hardware and am now editing it. Project settings are all the PAL widescreen settings:

720x576, widescreen pixel aspect ratio etc.

The captured footage (played through the XM2) captures at 1024x576 with a square pixel ratio. When previewing it on my 4:3 external monitor (playing through a 4:3 cam.) it's vertically stretched ie not 'letterboxed'. This has been fine in the past for concerts etc. for the final DVD output.

In prem. 6.5, I just tried adjusting the speed of one of the clips to 50% and it mucks up the footage something strange. It's like it's some sort of field issue or something - blocky artefact type stuff, about 50 pixels high or so. I've tried everything I can think of (field options, reversing field dominance, pixel aspect ratio etc.) but nothing seems to fix it.

When I import the same footage into after effects, and adjust the speed and then export it, it plays back as it should.

Anybody think of something I could be missing?
