MPEG encoding Problem
 

I have a problem. I have a half hour premiere project that I am outputting to DVD. I used the adobe MPEG encoder to output. I used Sonic DVD Architect to render. It wouldn't recognize the m2v outputted file. I had to take that and put it through TMPEG. When I did that it worked but the resolution went to crap. I got like 1/4 resolution.

Any ideas.

DVD Architect doesn't recognize elementary streams. What you can do (and what I do when encoding from Vegas) is that you multiplex the elementary stream (without the audio) in TmpgEnc. The resulting file will then be a program stream that's accepted by DVD-A.

I would output directly to mpeg (DVD settings). If you are not satisfied with the Adobe mpeg encoder there are other encoders with plug-in versions for Premiere (or you could frameserve from Premiere to a stand-alone encoder).

IMO (not a scientific test, just an opinion) the best encoder for interlaced material is ProCoder (there is a plug-in for Premiere) and you can download a 30 day trial (limited to 5 minutes clip with watermark) from canopus. The problem with Procoder is that it is quite expensive (some USD 600) and I do hope that they will release a "lite" version for us hobbyists.

Kevin, I use MyDVD 3 so I may not have an answer for you, but what works for me is to change the file extension to .mpg from .m2v. Then Sonic likes it fine.

Ok. when you get ready to output. got to multiplexer in the adobe MPEG encoder under advanced and change to DVD for some reason it is defaulted to mpeg-1. which obviously doesn't work.
