Capturing M2T with HDVSplit - audio very low

I`m not sure if it was a problem when filming or capturing, but when I bring the footage into premiere the audio is barely reaching -18 db if that. Any idea why this might be?

Nate, first off you need to isolate whether the video was shot with low audio levels in the first place OR if there's a software issue. You can watch the footage on your A1 via the on-board speaker or through a set of cans to determine if the sound is too low. Compare it to other shots, since I don't think the A1 meters will show on playback.

Assuming you captured good audio-in camera, does the audio sound muted when you play the m2t with VLC, WMP, or QT? You can also open up the file in Audition or Soundbooth and take a look at it on the meters there.

I don't think that HDVSplit would alter the stream in any way, but there could be something in PPro that's lowering the gain... clip audio gain, track audio gain, keyframes, compression, etc.

Keep us posted,
Brian Brown

There is NOTHING in HDVSplit or Windows that can lower your audio level - capturing and HDV tape is simply a file tranfer procedure.
