Screen Capture for Videos

When I output a video for web, I like to create a title graphic to go with the video. In this graphic, I use a 35mm film strip and place different still frames of the video in the corresponding spots. Currently, I just use Adobe Premiere to do a screen capture.

Is there a light weight program out there (preferably free) that will just capture a frame of video that I line up on quicktime, wmp, or even divx? It's just annoying having to load Premiere and wait for half a minute when I'm doing a quick 20 second project in Photoshop.

Just press the Print Screen button on your keyboard and it will capture everything on your screen. The resolution is not so good, but you can add it in Photoshop right away by File > New > Ok and then right-click, paste and crop accordingly.

The Print Screen option may not work - an empty black box will show up where the video should be.

If this happens, you need to disable the hardware overlay of your PC. For Windows XP:

Right-click on your desktop
Select Properties
Select Settings
Select Advanced...
Select Troubleshoot
Drag the Hardware Acceleration slider to the tick just left of center
Click OK etc to close all the windows

In Vista under Aero you shouldn't need to do anything.

If you have Windows Media Player 9, just press Ctrl-I - you will be asked to provide a filename and a JPG image will be saved. This features seems to have gone in WMP11, not sure about 10.
