$329 Capture Card or Built in Firewire?

Hello All,
I just purchased a Dell Dimension XPS with built in Firewire (system hasn't arrived yet). Problem is, I need some extra money to get other little things such as a DVD Burner, etc. So I'm scrapping my old computer (1.3ghz) in parts and selling.

I had originally bought a Pyro Platinum DV (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00005NSH3/qid=1059754325/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/102-2086141-5369745?v=glance&s=electronics&n=507846) for around $300.

Since my new computer comes with a built in firewire card (on the Audigy2 Sound card), does it matter whether I have this Pyro capture card? From reading posts in this forum, it seems that it doesn't matter if you have a $500 dollar card or a wimpy $20 firewire card--they are all the same when it comes to input/output. Of course, Real Time cards are where the differences are.

So, Should I sell the Pyro for much needed cash?

Depends- was the pyro a real-time card? If so depends on if your willing to give up the benefits the card offers you. As far as straight capturing footage it'll be no different than the firewire built into the Audigy. Most new MB are now incorporating built in fire wire....no need for a pci capture card yet alone an expensive one. Unless, like I said, it has real-time effects for the NLE you use that you can't pass up.

Hi Glen,
Hope you're doing well! No, the card does not have Real Time. The best thing about it is that it came with Adobe Premiere 6.5...and now I can upgrade to Premiere Pro for only $199. I'm going to try and sell the card on ebay w/o Premiere...

I guess I know what I am going to do now. Thanks for your reply.
