face blurring

We are in the process of editing video and am wondering just how far the face blurring should go.

If someone is wearing sunglasses would their face still need blurred?

The video was shot at a racetrack. We got a location release and most people signed a model release but there are a lot who didn't sign.

We want to make sure we CYA on this project :)

Thanks..

Sunglasses or not, if you MUST blur, then blur those too.

Most faces are still recognizable even with sunglasses.

Thanks for the reply Ervin, we wound up talking to a lawyer yesterday and got it all sorted out, turns out that the "expectation of privacy" is almost nil at the location we shot at, since it was considered a exhibition with spectators that paid to watch, he said there were areas we needed to watch out for like making someone look bad or foolish, or like a dress being blown up reveling (use your imagination), but as long as we had the talent releases for our main subjects and the all important site release from the owner of the property we had done pretty much all we could do to CYA.

Of course like any lawyer he finished his statement with "anyone can sue anyone at anytime for any reason" ...but he was just CHA!

Thank again.

Jon
