Multiple projects/sequences in Vegas/Premiere?

Hi all,

Up until now i've been editing on Pinnacle Plus 10 at home, but have recently become familiar with Final Cut Pro which is what I use at University. There are a number of features on this which have persuaded me to upgrade my software at home.

The only real affordable options for me right now are Vegas and Premiere. I was wondering if either of these allow you to have several projects open at once, or to create several sequences within a project?

Since i will be using both FCP at uni and my PC-based NLE at home, which of these two programs would have the most similar layout/interface to FCP?

Thanks,
John

Premiere Pro allows you to have multiple sequences in the same project, and you can nest sequences inside other sequences as if they are clips.

Thanks for the reply,

looks like I'll get Premiere Pro then seeing as it'll be AU$250 cheaper than Vegas after the student discount.

The other nice thing about Premier is that you can import projects into new projects. This gives you a lot of flexibility. Can't comment on Vegas as I've never used it.

Although there might be one, I don't know of any NLEs that can have more than one project open at once. The complexity of that might actually make your processor explode. (grin)

Hi John,

You can have any number of instances of Vegas open with projects running in each instance.

You can also import projects into a project (nesting).
