Frustrating DVD Burning Issues

I have made a re-writeable DVD via firewire into a stand alone DVD recorder and it plays OK. Now all I want to do is make a few copies in the PC with Roxio DVD copy.

Why is it that I am now getting an error message when I press the copy button, that the selected source is too large to fit on a std recordable DVD and do I wish to compress?

The source disc is only 3.547g. for goodness sake ! It is nowhere near full and I have tried other recordable discs with the same result.

I gave up on Ashampoo as it wouldn't even recognise the disc!
